The Missionary Society of St. Thomas the Apostle (MST) priests, who were engaged in works of mercy after the example of Jesus, found Konanahallithittu village to be a suitable place for opening a centre that would become a true light to the people of Mandya and neighbouring villages. This resulted in the establishment of a new centre, named Karunya Sadan, House of Mercy, in 2016. It caters to the needs of the village and the neighbouring villages by providing education to children, empowering women through self-employment and self-help groups, caring for the elderly, and introducing modern employment techniques to the youth.
